Yu'Kong Island

A mysterious island of dark secrets, ancient ruins, and jungle wilderness, crossed by a 4.4 km trail as part of the Virtual Route.
Yu'Kong Island is a mysterious and dangerous stop along the Virtual Route, inspired in part by the world of King Kong. A 4.4 km trail crosses a succession of very different environments, from a quiet swamp and an abandoned city hidden behind a gigantic wall to a primitive village, an ancient temple, and a dense jungle climbing toward the top of the mountain.
The island is shaped by the presence of a gigantic creature, or perhaps the remains of one that once lived here. Signs of its presence can be found throughout the island, particularly around the ruined city and the ancient temple.
Yu'Kong also lies close to an important shipping route, with numerous cargo ships passing around the island. Their constant presence on the horizon was inspired by the congested waters around the Strait of Hormuz, creating an unusual contrast between the wild island and the busy world beyond it.
The island has a 17 hours day and night cycle. Changing sunlight and darkness continually transform the landscape, giving the journey a different atmosphere depending on when it is visited. Several locations along the trail offer places to stop, rest, or explore before continuing the journey.

A small cabin hidden in the middle of the swamp, offering a quiet place to rest around a fireplace.

The remains of an abandoned city project destroyed by an explosion and later ravaged by a gigantic underground creature.

The remains of an ancient temple where a mysterious gong can awaken an old ritual of sacrifice.
Dead Trunk Hearth
A hidden jungle rest stop built inside a gigantic dead tree trunk, with a small fire at its centre.
